I love food! This is where I will post photos, recipes and articles all about the food I've made and recipes I have come up with.

Toy Story Alien Cupcakes

Toy Story Alien Cupcakes

I made these for a Halloween party at work yesterday. They were a big hit! I found the idea on Pinterest, but had to go my own direction since I couldn't find what the original cupcakes used for toppings. I think they turned out really cute though, so it all worked out great... get recipe

Triple Chocolate Cheesecake

Triple Chocolate Cheesecake

This is my own recipe for triple chocolate cheesecake. It was so YUMMY! I started with someone else's recipe but changed it so much, it's defininitely my own creation now. Also, since it's almost Halloween I also decided to decorate my chocolate cheesecake accordingly... get recipe

Homemade Ham & Pineapple Pizza with Stuffed Crust

Homemade Ham & Pineapple Pizza with Stuffed Crust

If you've seen the recipe I used to make my apple cinnamon rolls, Russ and I actually used the exact same recipe to make this pizza crust! It can also be used to make bread and breadsticks and amazingly it only takes 10 min to rise! Everyone should have this recipe... get recipe

Apple Cinnamon Rolls

Apple Cinnamon Rolls

I made these from an awesome breadsticks recipe my sister gave me. I filled them with homemade apple pie filling and rolled it all up. I cut out the rolls, put them in the butter melted in a cake pan and sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top. I made a quick glaze to drizzle on top after they were finished cooking. Also the cooking time was twice that of the regular breadsticks. Here's the original breadstick recipe... get recipe

Homemade Corndogs

Homemade Corndogs

I made homemade corndogs! These taste exactly like the ones you buy frozen at the store... get recipe

Quad-Chocolate Cookies

Quad-Chocolate Cookies

These cookies are a quadruple chocolate threat! Chocolate cookie, chocolate chips, mini M&M's and gooey Nutella. I made these twice this week and they're super easy. They're actually just an altered version of the Nestlie Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. The only difference is I added white sugar for brown sugar and added a bit of cocoa. I also put mini M&M's on top of course, then squeezed some Nutella inside... get recipe

Raspberry Lemon Tarts

Raspberry Lemon Tarts

This is a recipe for raspberry ribbon pie that I converted into Raspberry Lemon Tarts. I made these for a bake-off at work! :) I did the same thing with the crust that I did for some mini pies I made a few weeks ago. See that recipe here: Mini Handmade Pies. Then I put a small scoop of raspberry filling in the bottom of each mini crust, squeezed some lemon filling over that... get recipe

Ricotta & Mushroom Stuffed Shells

Ricotta & Mushroom Stuffed Shells

I decided to create my own recipe for these since they seemed pretty simple. I basically chopped up about 6 mushrooms, added them to a pint of ricotta cheese, added garlic, basil, italian seasoning, & onion powder to taste and stuffed it in some large shells that I boiled for about 10 minutes. Then poured half a bottle of pizza sauce in the bottom of a square pan and placed each shell on top of it... get recipe

Lemon Mini Muffins

Lemon Mini Muffins

So this recipe is really good, but it had a few things that I decided to change. The lime shavings created a bitter after taste, but when I didn't use them the muffins weren't tart enough. So when I decided to do was dip the muffins in lime juice instead of butter, then dip them in just sugar. They were almost perfect after that. Next time I make them, though I'll find a way to make the muffins themselves more tart than sweet. I like a burst of flavor... get recipe

Nutella Cheese Danishes

Nutella Cheese Danishes

I found a great puff pastry recipe and frosted the top with Nutella and a sweet cream cheese mixture. These are delicious! Great for a to go breakfast snack. For the cream cheese mixture: I just blended softened cream cheese, sugar, a little half and half and almond flavoring to taste. For Nutella Danishes: After chilling the dough, use a rolling pin to stretch it, then slice out squares... get recipe

Black & White Cookies

Black & White Cookies

I had an idea tonight. I took a basic sugar cookie recipe and added lime juice to it. I flattened the cookies out on the pan before cooking and sprinkled them with sugar. I cooked them longer than usual so they'd be crispy. Then I melted some Hershey Kisses in a double boiler and frosted the cookies with it. I LOVE how they turned out! They're especially great dipped in milk. I'm calling them "Black & White Cookies"... get recipe

Chicken Salad Crepes

Chicken Salad Crepes

This is my own recipe! Russ loves these so much, he says I can make them anytime I want and he'll never get tired of them. You can use any basic homemade crepes recipe (I used my Mom's). Here's the recipe for the filling: Cook chicken thouroughly and chop it up in little peices. While chicken is cooking, mix together mayo, garlic, onion and lemon juice. The mayo mixture should taste yummy by itself before adding it to the chicken... get recipe

Epic Cooking Fail

Epic Cooking Fail!

Ria and I got together to make cookies for a family pot-luck last friday. We had the idea of mixing rice crispies with chocolate and butterscotch chips. We also added peanut butter, corn syrup and sugar. After the first attempt became something very similar to "tv balls" (which we both are not very fond of) we tried turning them into cookies but taking a small amount and adding flour, egg, baking soda, etc... read article

Imitation Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Imitation Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Russ and I love Red Lobster, so when I found this recipe I was psyched! It's actually really easy, basically 3 ingredients and then butter with garlic and oregano frosted on top. The texture and taste are exactly the same as the ones they serve at Red Lobster! It's unbelievable. Next time I will try garlic powder instead of garlic salt, though. Other than that, these are perfect... get recipe

Homemade Broccoli Cheese Soup

Homemade Broccoli Cheese Soup

This is my own recipe for slow cooker broccoli cheese soup! It's so good it's unbelievable! I'm never buying store-bought soup again. We got the idea from another recipe for tomato and basil soup, but we changed the veggies and added more cheese and spices. It turned out so so yummy... get recipe

Chocolate & Cherry Baked Wontons

Chocolate & Cherry Baked Wontons

On Sunday I had a sweet tooth so I threw together some yummy dessert wontons. These are so easy and really delicious! You can find these wonton wrappers next to the tofu at Walmart. For the cholocate ones, fill each wrapper with about 12 milk chocolate and butterscotch chips, for the cherry ones, fill each wrapper with a spoonfull of pie filling (any flavor works, obviously). To seal the wrappers I melt a little butter and add some flour... get recipe

Mini Handmade Fruit Pies

Mini Handmade Fruit Pies

I loved making these adorable mini pies, and my whole family enjoyed eating them. 2 cans of pie filling (blackberry & apple) plus this crust recipe made about 104 mini pies! They're easier than you would think too. I used a mini muffin pan and a small cup to cut out round sections of crust. I baked the bottom half of the crust for 8 minutes, then added the filling and used the leftover crust to create strips to go on top... get recipe

Homemade Eggrolls

Homemade Eggrolls

The recipe I used for chicken eggrolls was good, but it wasn't the best, and now when I'm finally posting about them I can't find it anywhere. I doesn't matter though because I was mainly thrilled to discover you can purchase eggroll wrappers and put whatever you want inside! I'll let you know when I come up with or find a killer eggroll filling recipe to go in these awesome wrappers. I got these at Harmons, but I've seen some at Walmart too... get recipe

Baked Homemade Churros

Cherry Chocolate Delights

Cherry Chocolate Delights

I made up this recipe so I'd have something sweet to send to my Mom and Mother-in-law on Mother's Day. It was just an experiment at first, but they may be my new favorite kind of cookie now! Actually they're so fantastic you can hardly call them cookies. So I'm calling them Chocolate Cherry Delights... get recipe

Melted Chocolate Designs

Melted Chocolate Designs

I tried this new trick I found on Pinterest. Melt some milk chocolate, put it in a cake decorating tube and draw out any design you want on a strip of plastic wrap taped to a pan. Then place the pan in the freezer for about 30 minutes and you then have the perfect decorations for cupcakes or cookies. I tried it out and it worked really great! I think I'll do even better next time... get recipe

I got a sweet tooth tonight and wanted to makes some cream-filled cupcakes. I didn't have the ingredients to make the cream filling, but eventually found something better to use. Chinese Stir Fry

Chinese Stir Fry

I found a bottle of sweet & sour sauce at the store and it inspired me to make a really yummy chicken stir fry dish. I love how it turned out! I fryed up some broccolli, zuccini, celery and onion with garlic, olive oil, & cayenne pepper. Then I added the same spiced to some chicken breast tenderloins and drizzled some of the sweet and sour sauce on top.. I chopped up the chicken, combined it with the veggies... get recipe

Cinnamon Almonds

Cinnamon Almonds (and Peanuts)

I found a recipe to make the same cinnamon almonds we always smell at Christmas time in the mall. They turned out very yummy! I would say however, that they do not taste exactly like the ones in the mall, but they are delicious. I made some with peanuts as well since Russ isn't fond of almonds. It definitely works for peanuts too! I'll probably make these again to bring to a Christmas party of something. They are such a cool idea... get recipe

Cream Cheese Jalapeno Rolls

Cream Cheese Jalapeno Rolls

These are so easy! I got the idea from Pinterest. Just take a package of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, flatten the dough with a rolling pin, frost it with cream cheese and sprinkle on some chopped jalapenos. Roll it all up and cut into slices. Then follow the cooking instructions on the crescent roll package. I wouldn't call these a complete success because they ended up a little doughy in the middle. I think it was because I didn't have a rolling pin... get recipe

Hash Brown Cakies

Hash Brown Cakies

These are my own invention. You basically combine frozen hash browns, a couple eggs, shredded cheese, chopped onion, and garlic powder. Fry it all in a pan and smash it together like a pancake. Brown on both sides and remove from the pan. Use a small cup to cut out cakes and top each cake with a little ranch, hot wing sauce and more shredded cheese. Toast them in the oven for about 10 minutes. They are so yummy... get recipe

Ricotta Stuffed Meatballs

Ricotta Stuffed Meatballs

Russ and I made ricotta stuffed meatballs for dinner. They were so great! We didn't follow an exact recipe, Russ flavored the meat and I added salt, pepper, chopped basil, shredded cheddar and chopped parsley to the ricotta cheese. We had a lot of left over ricotta cheese, so we added it to some Ragu sauce and poured it on top of some pasta and the finished meatballs. It made for such an excellent meal... get recipe

Homemade Cutie Pies

Homemade Cutie Pies

I found this fantastic idea for homemade cutie pies on Pinterest. All you have to do is buy a package of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls and fill them with pie filling. So glad I did because it really made them taste like the ones you buy at the store.... get recipe

Crack Potatoes

Crack Potatoes

I've been looking for an excellent funeral potatoes recipe on Pinterest. My first try is a recipe called "Crack Potatoes". The person who posted the recipe claimed these potatoes are so good they're like crack, so I thought that sounded promising. ;) They came out wonderful and the recipe was super simple! I'm not a big fan of bacon in potatoes so I left out the bacon bits and Russ and I added some Taco Bell Chipotle sauce to add a little more kick... get recipe

Chicken & Pineapple Quesadillas

BBQ Chicken & Grilled Pineapple Quesadillas

I found a great recipe for pineapple chicken quesadillas on Pinterest and cooked some for Russ and I tonight. They turned out soooo yummy! Cheesecake Hearts

Valentine Surprise: Raspberry Cheesecake Hearts

I made cheesecake bars and left a special message written in powdered sugar for Russ on Valentine's Day. He was really excited to find it. It was our first Valentine's Day together so I wanted to give him something nice. We don't have much money right now so I decided to bake something. I baked raspberry cheesecake bars, then cut out a few peices with a heart shaped cookie cutter and put them on a plate. If you want to make these... get recipe

Alfredo Sauce

My Homemade Alfredo Sauce (& Cheese Toast) Recipe

I've invented a homemade alfredo sauce! Both Russ and I think it's delicious. It's a little spicy, creamy and I think it tastes best with angel hair noodles. Here is the recipe. Last time I made this sauce, I served it over angel hair noodles with cheese toast. This cheese toast is also my own creation and very easy to make! Just butter both sides of a peice of bread and sprinkle a small amount of garlic powder, onion powder, parmesan cheese... get recipe

Cupcakes

Cupcakes & Nut-Buckets for Father's Day

Last weekend I had a lot of fun making and decorating cupcakes and putting together some "nut-buckets" for Fathers Day. Now that Russ and I have a kitchen all to ourselves, I'm suddenly really excited about baking, especially treats. I'll probably start doing quite a few blogs like this that feature photos of the goodies I'm going to make. Since I was mainly excited about decorating cupcakes this time, I just bought an easy chocolate cake mix... read article
