'Ireland: The Dance Experience' Starts Friday

For the past six months The Shelley Irish Dance Company has been working hard to prepare for Ireland: The Dance Experience opening this weekend at The Scera Center for the Arts in Orem, Utah.
In the past we have put on dance concerts featuring original choreography and multiple costume changes, but this new production takes the show to a whole new level. Ireland: The Dance Experience will be a full theatrical production featuring beautiful choreography and captivating scenes all tied together in an Alice in Wonderland storyline.
The show includes the much loved Irish Washer Woman Dance, a spooky scene in The Land of the Dead with dancing zombies, a dance with The Queen of the Fairies, and even a scene in an old Irish pub where Alice meets an Irish Dance Master who battles with his mates to prove his superior dancing skills.
My personal favorite part of the show is in the town of Limerick, where special festivities commence! The whole company performs a Ceili dance in sparkling dresses. The choreography is fantastic and the music is beautiful. The dance even ends in a human pyramid with Alice on top! Something you’re not likely to see too often in an Irish dance production.
The whole production starts and ends with a bang as the company performs a powerful hard shoe number in colorful solo dresses, sure to be be the highlight of the show. If you have the opportunity, don’t miss your chance to see this show! Without a doubt this will be our finest production ever.
The show runs for 10 nights, January 7-22nd, 2011 at The Scera Center for the Arts in Orem, Utah.
